Senator Isah Jibrin has reassured the people of Kogi East senatorial district about the availability of food, particularly staple items like rice, in the coming days. He conveyed this message to newsmen in response to a watery and jejune publication by a group, evidently sponsored by opposition elements, which accused him of not fulfilling legislative duties. The senator, labeling the group’s stance as laughable, childish, and malicious, emphasized that those familiar with legislative affairs acknowledge his diligent work, especially the rural constituents who have consistently benefited from his modest efforts.

He urged the public to dismiss the falsehoods circulated by the amorphous group, which alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earmarked N200m per senator as palliative for members of the National Assembly. While this purported gesture is welcome news, the senator expressed hope that the funds are indeed made available soon so that the people can benefit from the presidential gesture . Criticizing the group’s misunderstanding of governance, he clarified that lawmakers do not receive such funds; procurement is handled by the executive.

In December 2023, all nine local governments in Kogi East Senatorial District received his Christmas Rice Intervention Drive, a personal initiative he spearheaded.

Addressing other unsubstantiated claims by the hastily assembled group, Senator Isah refuted allegations of inadequate legislative governance on the Senate floor, dismissing them as laughable and feeble. He highlighted his significant contributions, including steering national discourse for national development.

The senator underscored his legislative accomplishments, including sponsoring bills such as:

  • A bill to establish the Federal University of Education Ankpa in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
  • A bill to amend the Orthopaedic Hospital Management Board Act.
  • A bill to establish Orthopaedic Hospital Dekina.
  • A bill to establish the Federal Eyes Centre, Ochadamu.
  • A bill to establish the Nigeria Capital Market Development Fund.
  • A bill to establish the National Cashew Production Research Institute at Idah.

He also advocated for the rehabilitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, particularly urging the Federal Government to complete the Ajaokuta-Okaba-Otukpo rail line. He emphasized the potential of the coal deposit in Okaba to power the Ajaokuta Steel Company effectively.

While encouraging the people of Kogi East to remain resilient, Senator Isah urged them to disregard the actions of hired detractors and opposition elements posing as rabble-rousers.
