The Return of the White Lion and the scampering of criminal elements in Kogi

Vexed by the sudden rise in criminal activities in Kogi State, the governor minced no word when he fired a penetrating warning at the criminal elements and their sponsors trying the resolve of the state. He was unmistaken and fierce in his resolve, barely 24 hours after this fire shot, a gang of kidnappers were rounded up around the Itobe Ochadamu road, and others were also nabbed around Okehi in the central flank of the state. Those behind the senseless Bassa killings are not left out and others were haunted by the security agencies.

His stoic disdain for criminality sees him speaks always with audacious vigour, he called those trying to undermine the watertight security architecture in the state cowards who are testing the waters in creating a heightened state of insecurity in the state. Sadly, his open affront to the criminal elements is being twisted to be a slap on the opposition. In a politically sane society, such reassurance should gladden the citizenry rather than offend some. It should only offend the criminals.

Kogi state even though bordering nine states in Nigeria is the only state that has curtailed the maddening insecurity that has enveloped the country. Criminal elements hardly succeed in their nefarious acts as they are always met with corresponding lethal match- the man should be studied by other governors on the modules he uses in tackling insecurity. Governor Yahaya Bello’s zero tolerance for criminals and criminality should be applauded and replicated across the states of Nigeria.

Not everything should be politicised, the man spoke in thunderous words to crime lords and he was unmistaken about it, if you are offended by his affront, it means one thing; you are either a criminal or you have a stake in criminality.

Frankly musing.
