The Conference of Chairmanship Aspirants for Lokoja Local Government Area has congratulated the duo of Governor Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja on their victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

Chairman of the body, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu made the remark earlier on Saturday immediately after the delivery of the tribunal’s verdict.

Comrade Abdullahi said the judgement has further solidified the faith of Nigerians in the nation’s judicial system, noting that the judgement was expected because the opposition had no case ab initio.

“It is our belief as a body that the November 16th 2019 election in Kogi State is among the freest and fairest in the history of the country’s democracy. It was not a contest to start with because the opposition did not have good standing with Kogites from the beginning..

“Elections are not won on the basis of propaganda and outright lies which were the stock they (opposition) traded in during the election. The Governor performed creditably and was able to correct all the loopholes identified in the administration in earnest. He therefore deserved his re – election without a shadow of doubt.”

While describing the judgement as a ‘sound judicial pronouncement,’ the conference thanked the learned legal minds for ensuring due diligence and admonished members of the opposition party to bury the hatchet and join hands with the Governor and his deputy to move Kogi State forward.
