Update On Conduct Of Kogi Council Polls

Polling for council positions in Kogi State began on a smooth note as the people took advantage of the warm early morning weather to cast their votes in an exercise that is generally being adjudged to be peaceful.

Accreditation and voting commenced early at various polling units in Kogi State as residents conducts themselves in a peaceful manner to cast their votes.

InsideStory reports that accreditation and voting commenced at exactly 08:15am at the pulling unit, Open Space CRM School Imane, Olamaboro LGA.

The Electoral Officers at the polling unit arrived at the unit at 7.30 a.m, they attributed the early commencement of voting to the early release of election materials.

Similarly, voting commenced in Ward 06, Mopamuro local government as early as 8:06am.

Some residents seen at the polling units said they had already voted at 8.40 a.m. and were going back to their homes.

They described the exercise as smooth and peaceful.

Also, voting at Omi Unit 003, Yagba West Local Government Area commenced as early as 8:25am with electorates conducting themselves in an orderly manner.

In Okura sawmill polling unit, Dekina local government, voters turned out in their numbers to exercise their franchise.

Voting is also going on peacefully in the polling units visited in Kogi-Koton Karfe. Election officials arrived early and voting also commenced accordingly.

Residents who voted at Uboro/Omachi Uhuodo ward described the election as the most transparent, credible, free and fair.

In most polling units visited, the electorates were seen waiting for their turns for accreditation and voting.

InsideStory reports that the exercise is peaceful, with security personnel in most polling units observing from a distance.
