‘We are nothing but pencils in the hands of the creator’ – Gov Bello
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has on Monday said that mankind was nothing but pencil in the hands of the Almighty God, created to fulfil His divine purpose here on earth.
Governor Bello made the assertion at the inauguration of the new Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja at the banquet hall in Government House, Lokoja.
His words; “We are simply pencils in the hands of the Almighty God, created to do His bidding. We are not going to disappointment the people, we will do our very best for the people, succeeding amidst trials.
“Everything that has happened, needs to happen. Today, my joy knows no bounds, for my Siamese twin brother to become my deputy, a trusted hand I can rely on.
“It is not a time or moment for celebration but more work,” he added.
He however, urged the new Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja to continue to uphold the virtue of hard work for the progress of the state.
Governor Bello who expressed delight in seeing his Former Chief of Staff becoming his Deputy, enjoined him to be firm as always, strong in the discharge of his constitutional responsibility geared towards taking the state to the next level of development.
The Governor who recalled the days of hardship between his family and that of his Deputy in their attempt to salvage the state from eminent collapse, expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives to witness their dreams come true.
He thanked the Members of the State House of Assembly and the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah for performing their constitutional role and ensuring there was no vacuum in the process of governance.
Govenor Bello who noted that there was still much task to be done, promised that they would justify the confidence resposed in them by the people of the State.
High point of the ceremony was the administering of oat of Office and allegiance on the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja by Justice Nasiru Ajanah assisted by Chief Register of the High Court.
The swearing in of Chief Edward Onoja witnessed a large turnout of people in high spirit jubilating and appreciating God for his elevation.
