The Vice Chancellor of the recently established Confluence University of Science and Technology, Professor Salau Sadiku has commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alh Yahaya Bello for his visionary leadership that has made the institution admit two hundred and forty students within nine months of take-off.

He made the remarks during the ongoing Project assessment tour of the Forum of Special Advisers to the Governor on Wednesday to the institution.

The Structural Engineer Vice Chancellor said the institution has received the attention of necessary stakeholders like the National Universities Commission, TETFUND, JAMB and other relevant institutions responsible for admission, accreditation and funding of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Prof. Sadiku said the passion with which Governor Yahaya Bello is pursuing the upgrade of the institution despite the meager resources available to the state is commendable, adding that the recent advertisement of contract works for the construction of Senate building, three engineering building and medical building, the institution will in no distant time compete with prominent universities in Nigeria.

Speaking about the already completed Projects, the Director of Works, Arc Usman Mohammed said the institution has completed and put to use, the University Auditorium, 7 new classrooms, University Library, administrative block, university clinic, academic staff offices, laboratories, hostel blocks and several others.

Speaking to our reporter during the visit, the class representative of the department of Biochemistry, Miss Fatimah Ramat Tijanni, said they are proud of what the Governor has done and are happy to be the pioneer students of the institution. Speaking in the same vein, Class representative of the department of Statistics, Abdulrahman Yusuf said Governor Yahaya Bello has worked the talk in terms of delivering good governance in the state, he commended the Governor for establishing a university within one year which commenced academic program with full accreditation.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on education, science and technology, Dr. Gabriel Ottah, said the infrastructural speed of CUSTECH courtesy of governor Yahaya Bello is phenomenal and worthy of accolades. He said the governor is doing wonderfully and deserves the support of everyone.

Arc Ahmed Okara, another Special Adviser to the governor said, Yahaya Bello has attended to funding of the institution with speed of the spirit and that the institution remain a legacy project that will promote academic excellence, job security and economic development of the state.
