Why Honourable Muktar Aliyu Batera must be Speaker of 10th Assembly

The leadership and entire Congress of the Coalition of Concerns Youth Leaders for Good Governance wishes to use this medium to declare our support for Hon. Muktar Aliyu Batera who has declared his interest to be elected as the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives for the 10th Assembly, in the same vein we call on all the Honourable members of the Federal House of Representatives to constituted into the Members of the 10th Assembly to support and Vote Hon Muktar Aliyu Betara, member representing Biu, Bayo, Kwaya-Kusar and Shani Federal Constituency of Borno State.

Our support for Hon. Baterra is base on his past antecedents, progressive legislative activities and commitment to the progress and development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has distinguished himself as an Honourable member of the Federal House of Representatives and this has earned him the membership of the Green Chamber since year 2007 till date. Hon. Muktar Baterra is an astute promoter and champion of youth inclusiveness in governance and he has demonstrated this through various youth empowerment programs and projects in his constituency and Borno State at large. He is mobilizer and a stabilizer that we the youth leaders have enormous respect for because he has stand-out by us and he continues stand by the youth of this nation.

Electing the leadership of the 10th Assembly should not be based on regional sentiment but on experience and readiness to serve with clear legislative Agenda that will protect the interest of Nigeria Electorates and our nation socio-economic Development. What our nation deserves now is a set of new progressive, vibrant and focused leaders in particular at the legislative arm of government going by the requisite constitutional duties of power and control of public funds as representatives of the people as enshrined in 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The legislative arm of government remains a major component of democratic institutions for political representation of the general mass of the populace and its leadership must comprised of men with integrity and clear vision which Hon. Batera represent. In our collective aspirations to fix Nigeria and get it we can’t afford to empowered some opportunist and power thirsty individuals in the name of zoning, what we need in the leadership of 10th Assembly are Members who truly want to serve for the general interest of our nation and its people to do away with unnecessary sentiments, political skimming and mediocrity.

It is in the regards of the above that the leadership of our organization embarked on scrutiny and objective assessment of those members who has showed interest in the leadership of the Green Chamber in 10th Assembly putting into consideration the apparent hopelessness in our polity, we found a highly resourceful parliamentarian in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly who is familiar with the challenges inherent in leadership at the Nigerian legislative arm of government based on his experience on legislative activities. Also taking into account the immensity of challenges faced by the 9th National Assembly shortly after the inauguration in 2019 when he was unanimously elected as Chairman of the House standing committee on Appropriation.

Hon. Muktar Batera is one individual whose capacity to match the proceedings and policies of the executive as speaker of the House of Representatives would expeditiously guarantee the much-needed turnaround of Nigeria socio-economically. He is an experienced team player whose contribution to nation-building has been applauded within and outside this country.

Hon. Batera is a legislator with well-crafted agenda as unveil yesterday to address the superfluity of challenges restraining the House of Representatives from performing maximally as a major institution of Democratic governance. He has been rated as one of the most successful members of the 9th Assembly in terms of parliamentary activities, and this success story resonated with his immediate federal constituency where his effective representation at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly is felt directly.

Hon. Batera by antecedents is indeed a servant leader in every ramifications and a true democratic per excellence that have proven that his foray into politics is solely service to humanity.
