Former Super Eagles player, Mr. Austin Eguavon has described Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello as a role model which every section of the society wanted to associate with owing to what he represents as the youngest governor in the country and the great feet he has achieved in Kogi State

The delegation of former Super Eagle Stars also presented an award to the Governor as the “Captain and Pillar of the Nigerian youths” in recognition of his vast youth advocacy and involvement in governance.

Mr. Eguavon asserted that the near future of Nigerian leadership belonged to the youths hence individuals like the Governor who were championing these cause were worthy of emulation and accolades.

He noted that Football and other sports remained a foremost uniting force while he added that they were ready to support the Governor whichever his decision as regards the call for him to run for President in 2023.

Governor Bello in his remark lauded the Ex Internationals for their dedicated and selfless services to the nation noting that they during their days promoted love, unity as a result of their winning streaks and also because there were no concerns of ethnicity, religion or class differentiation.

The Governor noted that Nigeria as country would have been able to compete with the developed countries in several areas if such momentum was sustained but rather the country have not gotten it rightly.

Governor Bello explained that the living legends and other late heroes used the opportunity given to them to represent the Nation and brought glory to her name adding that such opportunity was presenting itself again through the All Progressive Congress under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He opined that in as much as people required change, their participation in the political process to engender a better Nigeria under the leadership of youths was more important.

Governor Bello stated that the birth of a new Kogi State which was now listed high and above its peers was because his administration was able to unite every one and harness such united front to its advantage in the area of security and infrastructural boost.

The Governor used the medium to urge the Federal and State Governments respectively to support the several sport legends who have made the country proud and similarly cater for the welfare of the families of some of them who have died.
