Yuletide: Dr. Hannah Ujah’s High Esteem Foundation Fetes Widows in Lokoja

A non governmental organisation, High Esteem Widows and Orphans Foundation, has feted widows in Lokoja as part of her activities for the 2024 Christmas celebration.

Speaking at the ceremony Organised at Crowther Memorial College Lokoja, the President/CEO, High Esteem Widows and Orphans Foundation, Dr. Mrs. Hannah Ujah, said the gesture was to create a platform for the widows to have fun by playing games, dancing as well as to offer them with the opportunity to be presented with gifts for Christmas.

The President/CEO of the NGO explained that Nigerians should cultivate the lifestyle of supporting widows and the orphans in the society, pointing out that it is not a fault of theirs to be in that condition, reason why they should be supported and shown love.

While pointing out that loneliness and lack of showing love and care adds more burden to widows and Orphans in the society, added that just showing a little love and support, make people who are discouraged to attain their full potentials and to also contribute to the society in more positive ways.

The President pointed out that it is more Blessed to give to Widows and Orphans as contained in the Holy Books, pointing out that in times like Christmas, which symbolizes love, compassion and given, said nothing is too small to give out for others to be encouraged and to be happy.

Dr. Mrs. Ujah noted that the difficult economic times people are living in across the country, is more felt by the vulnerable groups. She however adds that nothing should be too small to share with loved ones particularly in the present circumstances with the vulnerable in the society.

She added too that individuals and organization should compliment the efforts of Government at all levels who are striving hard to mitigate the challenging times so as to make the society a better place to live in.

Highlights of the 2024 Christmas Outreach for widows was the distribution of rice, tomatoes paste, Maggi, salt among other condiments for the participants to enjoy the yuletide. They were also treated to several fun games and music to dance to.

Mrs Ujah, retired as a Permanent Secretary from the Kogi State Civil Service, has over the years made impacting of lives a way of life. She established the High Esteem Widows and Orphans Foundation that started officially this year to reach out to the vulnerable.

It will be recalled that the NGO has within the last one year visited several schools to hold career talks, share writing materials and has also engaged in the payment of school fees for identified vulnerable children, particularly orphans and children of widows and the poor in mostly public schools.

Similarly, the NGO has in the last one year visited and supported orphanage homes across the State with items for children living in the homes.

The President added that she is motivated by the smiles and happiness seen on the faces of people the NGO has supported to live a happy life.
