2023 Remembrance Day: Gov. Bello task leaders to cater for families of fallen heroes

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has tasked current leaders in the nation to ensure that they cater for the families of fallen heroes while those alive must be well appreciated and rewarded In order that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

He made this known on Sunday at the 2023 Armed forces Remembrance Day celebration where he assured that his government would continue to do it’s best to reward their sacrifices.

He said “Today we are commemorating the memories our fallen heroes, the Nigerian Armed Forces and all Uniformed men who have paid the supreme sacrifice so that we can live in peace and harmony”

“I appreciate the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, Department of State Securities, Civil Defence Corps and other uniformed Men for their sacrifices and services across the nation and specifically in Kogi State” he added

The Governor used the occasion to warn politicians against mixing politics with Security of lives and livelihoods despite the fact that the nation was in its political season.

He pointed out that the security formations in the state have continued to do their best in ousting criminals from the society reiterating that criminals have no place under his administration in Kogi state hence his government would continue to apprehend and make them to face the full wrath of the law.

He promised that his government would continue to pay serious attention to the security, safety and well-being of the lives and livelihood of its citizens as well as passers-by.

Governor Bello stressed that no individual irrespective of how highly placed, must take laws into their hands and hide under the guise of politics to import criminals and terrorists into the state adding that anyone caught would be dealt with decisively.

The governor while thanking the citizens, charged them to go about their lawful businesses stressing that they must conduct themselves appropriately even while campaigning for their respective candidates without engaging in any criminal activity.

The state Security Adviser, Rtd Navy Commander Jerry Omodara while addressing the press pointed out that the significance of the yearly event reflects largely in the show of oneness among the security Agencies in Kogi State.

He added that the state government would not blink as it continued to ensure that the Kogi government remained on top of its game as the security situation of the confluence remained significant to the whole nation.

Significant events of the day included Inspection of guard of honour mounted by the command Army records, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian legion, Prayers offered for the departed souls and their families, Laying of wreaths in honour and remembrance of many who have paid the ultimate price in the service of their nation

Other activities included gun salutes and the release of pigeons.
