… Issues 14-day ultimatum to the Governor to declare interest or face mass action

The ‘GYB2PYB’ (Governor Yahaya Bello To President Yahaya Bello) youth group on Thursday inaugurated its national, zonal and state executives to facilitate sensitization and mobilization towards their declaration and endorsement of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to run for president come 2023.

The youth group and its leadership that cuts across the 36 states of the federation also commissioned its office complex which is expected to coordinate its operations as the electioneering process unveils.

In his press address, the Director General, GYB2PYB Youth Movement, Amb. Oladele John Nihi expressed that Nigeria needed a young, vibrant, experienced person to succeed incumbent president Buhari and continue with his legacies to achieve the goal of a more advanced and developed Nigeria.

He added that over 15million of Nigerian youths have added their voices to the clarion call being made on the nation’s youngest governor to rescue the nation from certain occurring concerns some of which included insecurity, Youth and Women inclusiveness, Ethno-religious Intolerance, infrastructural deficiency and several others.

The group however gave the Governor a 14-day ultimatum to affirm his interest to run for the 2023 presidency while assuring him of massive support of the Nigerian youths all across the federation.

Mr. Nihi opined that the youths have followed closely the antecedents of governor Bello such as his women and youth inclusiveness in governance, giant stride in security, non sentimental disposition to governance and were confidence he would offer the right leadership.

He affirmed that the GYB2PYB youth group was not a selfish organization but a move towards marketing the candidacy and personality of Governor Bello whom they believed was well qualified to take the leadership role in the country.

In his words “The GYB2PYB Youth Movement is not a selfish Agenda, but an effort to project Governor Bello, market him, and sell him to other Nigerians. We have searched all over the length and breadth of our country and found out that Governor Yahaya Bello, who is a young man and who has given women and young people the platform to be the drivers in their own affairs, will perform well if elected as president of Nigeria.

“The GYB style of leadership is what we need in this country, the leadership of a government of the young people by the young people and for the general wellbeing of all Nigerians. Over fifteen million Nigerian young men and women have signed a request letter that will be handed over through some selected Youths and women across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello to call on him to accept to contest the position of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for clearing the way for youth to contest political offices by signing the Not too Young to run bill into law noting that they remained confident of his commitment to handing over power to the young man favored by the people come 2023.

In her goodwill messages, the Kano State coordinator of the GYB2PYB youth group, Fatima Ayyuba Adamu expressed excitement to be a part of such youth movement adding that their voices were the collective echoing of youths in Nigeria who currently aspired to take their place as the rightful leaders of today

She noted that as a young woman, Yahaya Bello’s trademark of giving women and youth leadership roles was highly commending and as such was worthy of a higher capacity to enable him do much more in these areas.

Also, the coordinator of the movement from Cross River State, Chris Inyang noted that the event which was fully sponsored by youths where an heterogeneous youth group would endorse a sitting governor for the position of president in a coming election was historic in Nigeria’s political history.

He opined that the Governor’s popularity cut across ethnicity and religion or Geo political zone hence he remained the perfect fit for the task of nipping out nepotism and other forms of imbalances from the country.

Stakeholders at the event were unanimous in thier resolve to mobilize support for Governor Yahaya Bello across the country, and called on the governor to heed the call of the people by indicating interest.
