Governor Bello flags – off Dekina – Anyigba township roads, promises completion in nine months as notable citizens blame past neglects by fmr Igala Governors
Governor Bello on Saturday flagged – off construction of the long neglected Dekina – Anyigba township roads to bring to an end the suffering of the people who have endured several years deplorable conditions the road.
Several respondents bemoaned the people’s suffering during interviews with Insidestory where they told our crew that it was shameful that the immediate past Governor of the state was a son of the area but could not give the road the facelift it had cried for for several years.
The Governor also promised that the commisioning of the road would be done in 9months, stating that this period was not for too much talk but action.
Governor Bello, who had earlier paid a courtesy visit on the Palace of Ejeh Dekina, Dr Usman Obaje where he received royal blessings, expressed his determination to ensure he realised his objective of the timeline.
The Governor stated that what the Igala sons who were Governors in the past were unable to achieve, his administration would ensure it achieved it within the period slated for commissioning
He noted that the township road, unlike what the previous did, would not only be flaggged off, but work would commence and would not stop until its completion.
Governor Bello also added that the road that leads to the Ejeh’s palace which has also been neglected over time would be added to projects awarded and the work would commence simultaneously with that of the township road.
Speaking at the venue of the flag off, Bello re – emphasised that his administration, was not used to too much talk because it preferred action, a decision that has seen it fulfil most of its promises.
He stated that the flag – off was because he believed that Igalaland and particularly the people of Dekina Local Government Area deserved the best of his administration’s attention in view of their overwhelming support for his party, the APC since his assumption of office.
Governor Bello also revealed that the Dekina township road was awarded to Tech Engineering Construction Company which handled the Ankpa township road, noting that the quality that would be delivered would ensure the road lasted more than 25 years.
The Governor stated that he would continue to facilitate more developmental projects for the people of Kogi East who he said showed great support by voting the All Progressive Congress during the Presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly candidates in the last elections
The Ejeh of Dekina, Dr. Usman Obaje who received the Governor at his Palace had earlier assured him that Dekina was a home because the people loved him sincerely.
He noted that the road the Governor was flagging off was constructed as far back as 1961 and had since been abandoned by successive governments who were all of Igala descent.
The Ejeh pointed out that Governor Bello’s administration favoured the Igala people and has made them happy and as such, deserved a positive reciprocity from all Igala citizens.
He charged the Governor not to be distracted by the noise all around, stating that he was sure that Dekina and by extension Igala people in general would continue to benefit from his administration.
