Kogi APC primaries; Chairman of committee preaches peaceful exercise, need for party unity

The Chairman of the APC primaries committee in Kogi State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has called on the party’s stakeholders especially candidates in Thursday’s APC governorship primaries to prevail on party faithful and their supporters to toe the path of peace during the exercise.

He gave the advice this evening at a meeting he held with aspirants and other stakeholders at the Kogi State APC secretariat in Lokoja.

He said the meeting became imperative in view of the need to set acceptable ground rules and procedures for the primaries and the need to agree to their adoption.

Alhaji Badaru explained the process to the aspirants one step after another, including the security arrangements to ensure a hitch free process which the entire aspirants present at the meeting agreed to.

At the end, the Chairman added that he expected to have only the aspirants, their agents, members of the press and security agencies present during the collation, a term that was also agreed to by the aspirants.

He used the opportunity to assure them that his committee was committed to ensuring a transparent, open, fair and credible exercise that would produce the best flag bearer for the APC for the November gubernatorial election.

Speaking, the Nassarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, who is also part of the committee, applauded the character traits of the Chairman, whom he said is a man of impeccable character and expressed confidence in his ability to ensure an acceptable process.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Kogi State APC Chairman, Hon Abdullahi Bello described Kogi as a peaceful state whose citizens were law abiding and enjoined the committee members to feel at home as Kogi was home for all.

He thanked them for coming to the state and prayed for a peaceful and successful primaries on Thursday.
