“Channel your energy to Agriculture” – Gov Bello tells Kogi, Nigerian youths

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called on the youths of the state to channel their energies into agriculture for the purpose of food security, societal security and employment generation.

He stated this on Tuesday in Lokoja during the presentation of APPEALS Integrated Farm Settlement Model to him by the state Project Coordinator of the programme and his team.

According to the Governor, his administration would continue to give priority to the sector because agriculture was capable of addressing several challenges being faced by the youths of the state and the country.

He applauded the state APPEALS project under the leadership of Dr Sani Ozomata and the steering leadership of the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja for the project.

In his earlier remarks, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja praised the Governor for his demonstration of love for the agricultural sector, stressing that his deliberate decision as contained in the New Direction Blueprint had assisted in the growth being witnessed there.

He said, unlike what obtained in the past before the advent of the present government, the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello ensures it followed it’s decisions in agriculture to a logical conclusion.

Speaking, the State Coordinator for APPEALS, Dr Sani Ozomata thanked the Governor for his support for the programme, adding that the Integrated Farm Settlement Model was designed to provide more employment opportunities for the youth and ensure food security for the state and the country.

He noted that the programme was capable of providing the state with improved infrastructure and shore up its Internally Generated Revenue, hence the need for the support of government.
