Kogi secures Mineral Service Centre for North Central Nigeria

Kogi State Government under Alhaji Yahaya Bello has secured a Mineral Service Centre for the North Central Geographical Zone of the country to be situated in Mopamuro Local Government Area.

This followed a meeting in Abuja on Thursday held by the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Akinlade Oluwatoyin.

The Commissioner, who was overwhelmed by the development, expressed immense gratitude to Governor Bello for facilitating the meeting and giving the ministry the free hand to operate and giving the support he needs to move the ministry and the state forward.

He said the aim of the Governor was to see a situation where all Kogites, irrespective of where they are based, contribute their quota to the improvement of infrastructure of the state, noting that it was why he made sure to collaborate with major stakeholders on the project.

Engr Bashir Gegu who particularly thanked the Permanent Secretary for being an exemplary citizen of Kogi State said she is passionate about the project, hence she would ensure that necessary mechanisms were put in place to ensure the project sees the light of day.

While also thanking her for the warmth with which she received him and his entourage, the Commissioner pledged the commitment of his ministry under the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to ensure he does the follow-up for the betterment of Kogi State.

The Commissioner stressed that the project would include; Mineral Buying Centre, Beneficiation Centre, Lapidiary and Artisanal Information Centre. He was accompanied on the visit by the Managing Director, Kogi State Solid Minerals Processing Company Ltd.
