Group Berates DPR for Fuel Scarcity in Kogi

The Kogi Integrity Group (KIG) has condemned the management of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Kogi for its inability to effectively control the activities of petroleum marketers in the state.

The KIG blamed the Kogi DPR and alleged that its “officers are accomplices” in the activities that led to the current “artificial scarcity” of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the state.

The Group's President, Barr. Zaccheus Dare Michael, in a statement in Lokoja on Wednesday, berated the DPR in Kogi for failing to effectively carry out its constitutional duty by preventing petroleum marketers in the state from hoarding the product.

Part of the constitutional duties of DPR, according to the President of the pressure group, is to monitor and supervise the activities of petroleum marketers to ensure sanity in the sub-sector so that consumers can have value for their money.
