Kogi NYCN electoral c’ttee begins work in earnest
The electoral committee for the forthcoming Kogi State National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN transition has commenced work in earnest by swiftly setting the ground rules for the election.
The Committee under the chairmanship of the former Chairman of Forum of Coordinators in the Central Senatorial District, Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida, had its first in – person meeting with the returning Officer for the process, Comrade Oladele John Nihi in Lokoja.
The inaugural meeting held in Lokoja had all the committee members but one in attendance.
In his opening remarks, Comrade Nihi advised the electoral committee to ensure dedication to the assignment before them by ensuring they demonstrate commitment towards a rancour free process.
He reminded the committee that the few additional weeks given to the caretaker committee would soon come to an end and urged them to keep their eyes on the big picture of delivering an election that would be to the satisfaction of all concerned.
On his part, the electoral committee chairman, Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida aplauded the returning Officer for his passion for the state youth council and determination to see that things concerning it make headways.
He also used the occasion to thank Comrade Nihi for his demonstration of love for the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who he serves as Director General for the GYB2PYB Campaigns and restated his own preparedness to support him at all times.
Comrade Babangida uses the occasion to remind members of electoral committee of the daunting task ahead of them, for which he expressed confidence that they were capable of overcoming given the experience of the team.
He expressed confidence that with the guidelines set, if adhered to, the process would be hitch – free.
While other committee members also aplauded the returning officer and the electoral committee for the seriousness attached to the exercise, they also agreed to the date for the election, sales and amount of forms for aspirants and other matters around the polls.
Comrade Samuel Kadiri who is the ELCOM Secretary was present as were Comrades Isah Emmanuel, Usman Umar and Abdulrahman Idris.
