Engr. David Oni deploys solar powered street lights in community, empowers over 100 widows with cash »

Engineer Ogbeni David Oni Sunday has donated 20 solar powered street lights to Irunda-Isanlu community in Yagba East local government areas of Kogi State.

Hon Sunday who is also the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Industries and Productivity, said the project is dear to his heart as the community has been in total darkness for so long. He said the people of the community are hardworking and peace loving, adding he felt the need to give back to his community having been empowered by Governor Yahaya Bello through his Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku.

Ogbeni said the installation of the street lights is meant to light up dark spots around the communities, increase social and economic activities and reduce criminal activities in the community. He urged community leaders and residents to take ownership of the lights and other government infrastructure to prevent vandalism.

The SSA also empowered over one hundred widows with cash to aid their petty businesses. He commended the people for the tremendous support they have given to governor Yahaya Bello, adding that the governor recognises the support and would continue to empower people and implement policies that would meet their needs as a community.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku who was the Chairman of the occasion commended Engr. Ogbeni David for assisting Governor Bello in reaching the community.

Represented by the Chairman, Kogi Youth Development Commission, Mr Lawal Ozomata James, the Chief of Staff described David Oni as a fearless giver who can go a distance to provide for the needy. He urged the community to be steadfast in their support for the governor as the government is committed to “do more” for the people.

On his part, the Onitedo of Irunda, community, HRH, Oba Moses Atteh, expressed profound appreciation to Engr. David Oni for his numerous impact on the company. He said the engineer is a worthy son of the soil who is doing them proud, and praised Governor Bello for empowering him to do more for the people.
