REEP foundation donates food items worth over N10m to flood victims in Kogi

Founder of a Non-Governmental Organisation, Rural Educational and Empowerment Program(REEP), Dr Victoria Hauwa Jatto, has presented food items worth over N10m to flood victims in about three Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) camps in Kogi state.

Items donated by the foundation include; 2000 bags of 5kg rice and other cooking materials to flood victims at Adankolo, Koton-Karfe and Akpaku in both Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas of the state.

The gesture is coming as the foundation’s way of helping to bring relief to those forced out of their homes and livelihoods by this year’s devastating flood which has ravaged about 9 LGAs across Kogi state.

REEP foundation has been in the forefront of humanitarian activities , where it is quietly affecting lives, especially in financing education of the rural children and empowerment of women and youths.

Founder of REEP who led her team to the IDPs camps where the items were presented recently, sympathised with the victims over the unfortunate incident of the flooding.

She has appealed for more support to the victims spread across the nine worse affected Local Government Areas in the state, urging for food materials and other consumables to suppress the impact of the flood on them.

While commending efforts by other individuals and organisations towards bringing relief to the victims, she strongly made a case for post flood interventions to enable the victims return to normal life after the flood.
