Hajia Hannatu Jibril Empowers 1,500 Women in Okene LGA
The wife of Kogi State Accountant General, Mrs Hajia Hannatu Jibril has empowered 1,500 APC women in Kogi central senatorial district, okene with the distribution of cash, food stuff, and wrappers to cushion the their welfare.
The gesture is meant to go out to all the LGAs and see how we can help our fellow sisters to stand on their feet so that they can provide for their families”. She affirmed that women are the backbone of the family and society, hence they need to be empowered to alleviate poverty.
Speaking to the beneficiaries, Mrs Hannatu Jibril charged them to make judicious use of the items in order to become economically independent, noting that the beneficiaries were drawn from each of the political wards in Okene Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State.
Empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors is essential to build stronger economy for development and sustainability, as well as improve the quality of life for women, their families and communities at large. This also entails encouraging and developing the skills for self-sufficiency, Mrs Jibril added”.
She also noted that the government will continue to roll out programmes and policies aimed at improving the living standard of women in the state while appealing to beneficiaries to make the best use of the knowledge and skills acquired by using the money judiciously.
