Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has assured that the All Progressives Congress, November Governorship election flag bearer, Ahmed Usman Ododo would consolidate on the modest achievements of his administration.
He made this known on Saturday during the special party congress held to ratify and present the outcome of the April 14 direct primary election, which produced Ahmed Usman Ododo after he polled 78,704 votes from all across the 239 wards across the 21 LGA in the state.
Governor Bello asserted that party men and women, who have their rights and privileges intact elected overwhelmingly the party’s flag bearer alluding that the peaceful and non violent conduct of the election indicated that Kogi state was totally APC and that the candidate was generally accepted.
The Governor thanked those who stepped down their aspirations for the cohesion of the party, while he acknowledged those that went into the contest for accepting the outcome without rancour and disregard for the party.
Gov. Bello noted that the party, APC was a party to beat in the state and there was no opposition adding that the state has demonstrated consistency in it’s dominance through the electioneering outings from 2015 till date where the party has been largely successful hence the November Governorship election would be a walk over.
He urged party faithfuls and citizens not to listen to any individual heralding politics of sentiments, ethnicity religious division stating such ideas belonged to the old order which Kogi state under his administration has outgrown.
In his acceptance speech, gubernatorial flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Usman Ododo asserted that the task of leading the party to victory in the next governorship election in the state is a herculean one but it is a task that must be accomplished.
He called on other aspirants and teeming supporters to unite solidly behind the ticket and work for the victory of the Party (APC) come November, stating that they have all demonstrated a rare fit in party loyalty, respect for the system and believe in the spirit of a united APC family in Kogi State.
Ododo promised to consolidate on the gains of the present administration by deepening security architecture, investing in human capital development, agriculture, healthcare, tourism and critical infrastructure that would kickstart the industrialization of Kogi as a frontline state in Northern Nigeria.
Earlier, following the conclusion and an announcement of the winner of All Progressives Congress Primary Elections, the committee on Saturday presented the flag bearer to the committee for ratifications.
Making the announcement, the committee Chairman, Gov. Bello Mattawale who was represented by the secretary, Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon, noted that the emergence of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo was in accordance to the law having polled 78,704 votes from all across the 239 wards across the 21 LGA in the state.
