The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo has restated his administration’s commitment to continue the fight against insecurity, describing it as sacrosanct.

The governor stated this today in Lokoja during the launch of Metropolitan Quick Response, a special security unit set up for twenty-four hours surveillance and quick response to curb crime and criminality within the state capital and environ. The governor also distributed operational vehicles to aid effectiveness.

The MQR is in partnership with the Rapid Response Squad of the Nigeria Police and the joint task force of security agencies in the state.

Ododo, who also warned perpetrators of criminality and other vices to desist from such acts, said that he would not hesitate to bring them to book.

The governor highlighted ongoing efforts to address various security threats, including armed robb kidnapping, and communal clashes. He reiterated the importance of collaboration between security agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to effectively combat these issues.

“We are leaving no stone unturned in our quest to ensure the safety and security of all residents of Kogi State,” the governor affirmed. He emphasized the need for proactive measures, intelligence gathering, and the deployment of modern technology to enhance security operations across the state.

Acknowledging the resilience and determination of security personnel in the face of daunting challenges, the governor pledged continued support for their efforts. He assured the public of his government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and implementing strategies to strengthen security infrastructure and operations.

Governor Ododo called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and security, urging citizens to support government initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property.

The Security Adviser to the Governor, Commodore Jerry Omodara, in his address said the unit will work hand in hand with the Police unit in the state to curb crime and criminality.

He praised the governor for his caurage in attending to issues of insecurity in his unique ways which has helped in reducing crimes in the state.

Omodara also used the opportunity to salute all heads of security agencies in Kogi state including the vigilante and hunters, adding that they are professionals and are living up to expectation. He commended the Caretaker Chairmen of the local government areas for their proactiveness in responding to security issues in their respective domains.

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Bethrand Onoha in his speech on behalf of other security agencies acknowledged the strides Governor Ododo is making in the area of security. He said the governor started on a good note by providing the necessary whewithal to aid security agencies in carrying out their duties, assuring of the readiness of the police to work with the government in ensuring a safe and secure Kogi State.

He said the unique location of Kogi State boarding several other states makes it a hot spot for crime, but assured that the police will not disappoint in carrying out it’s duties.
