GYB National Youth Vanguard: EFCC, stop the witch-hunt already »

We want to use this medium to join millions of other Nigerians to air our views as a group in the ongoing GYB/EFCC political pandemonium.

We have to quickly point out here that our organization, “GYB National Youth Vanguard,” is a socio-political organization, with over 100,000 members across the six geo-political zone, who are foots soldiers across the zone are vehemently in support of his political antecedent, loudable development and transformation of Kogi state to the best ever per excellent.

We chose to identify and support our principal with a great voice in the build-up to the last presidential elections, and we decided to continue to pinch our tent with him ever since. This is because of the astuteness, uprightness, and good leadership qualities we see in him.

Hence, we won’t fold our arms and watch him being unjustly maltreated and his fundamental human rights trampled upon by anybody or government agency, trying to truncate his political achievement nationwide.

GYB is a phenomenon, and an average Kogite sees him as a messiah because of his contributions to the growth of the state.

In his 8 years as the governor of Kogi State, he brought a lot of infrastructural and human capital developments to the state. In fact, the state had never had it so good since its creation in August 1991. He is considered as the best thing to ever happen to the state.

We are not saying that the EFCC has no right to investigate and possibly prosecute Yahaya Bello if he is found culpable, but the gestapo style and blatant disregard to the rule of law displayed by the commission in the attempt made on Friday 19th of April 2024, to arrest him in his Abuja residence, is what we won’t condone as a group.

Due process must be followed, if at all the commission has to invite him for questioning regarding any suspected financial malfeasance.

We call on the federal government, led by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to call on the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC, in person of Mr. Olayemi Cardoso to order.

If any further attempt is made by the commission to drag the hard earned reputations of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello the former governor of Kogi state to the mud anymore, we shall not hesitate to mobilize millions of our members and GYB admirers to the streets, to demonstrate in major cities of Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Portacourt to show solidarity to our principal/role model.

It will interest the whole world to know that, Kogi state was created in the year 1991, but everyone who had led the state before the coming of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, lack the political will to unite the people of the state and promote the social economical values of the state, by creating a template at which the state will be developed. But His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello under his administration launched the 30 years development plan for the state as a template for continuity of every administration.

Today we have facts and figures of pragmatic projects achieved both in human capital development and infrastructures across the 21 local government of the state, in sectors such as Education, Health, Agriculture, Road network and many more.

He also won the fiscal transparency award twice from the world bank under his administration.

To every Kogites, we are more United and less security threatened than before his coming as Governor of Kogi state.

Such a good man who stood against his political party monetary policy, by standing in the side of the masses, went to court to challenge the anti-peoples’ policy introduced by Godwin Emfiele, the then CBN governor.

His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is a good man and a citizen who has gallantly fought for the freedom of not just Kogi people, but the entire nation through his continua disagreement with policies that had a negative impact on the citizens.

We believe that as a young raising politician from the North Central of Nigeria, there are some forces who felt threatened by the frequency and magnitude at which his raising politically, at the national level and they want him down by using the power at the center through the EFCC which is supposed to serve as hope for the common Nigerians, now been politically caged to do the bidden of their paymaster.

We hereby call on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC, to obey the court order and await the outcome of the appeal court judgement.

Our principal His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello is a law abiding citizen who is well informed about the rule of law and has respect for it.

We want to use this medium to advise Mr President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to always apply the triple “C” of the cognitive therapy in the discharge of his duties as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
