Hon. Anyebe urges CUSTECH Students to Remain Calm, Says Gov Ododo I’ll Ensure Safe Return of Remaining Abducted Colleagues
Amid heightened tensions following the circulation of a voice note demanding a ransom of 200 Million within 24 hours for the release of Ms. Fatima, one of the abducted students, purportedly by kidnappers of students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), the Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon Monday Anyebe has appealed to students and youths of the school community to avoid street protests.
In a statement addressed to the CUSTECH community, students and friends of the victims, Hon. Anyebe acknowledged the widespread concern and anxiety caused by the situation. He assured the students that Governor Usman Ododo is committed to securing the safe return of the kidnapped students, urging students and their families to remain calm and support the government and security agencies in ongoing efforts to secure the safe return of the rest of the kidnapped students.
The Commissioner outlined several steps the government is taking to ensure the safe return of the rest of the kidnapped students, including increased security in and around schools, enhanced collaboration with law enforcement agencies, and the implementation of emergency response protocols. He reassured students and parents that every possible resource is being deployed to ensure the abducted students’ safe return.
He cautioned that those planning to-sponsor protest against the effort of the government for political purposes will be made to face the wrath of the law.
