Light Up Movement Commends Gov Ododo’s Plans to Establish Electricity Regulatory Agency
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received commendation from the Light Up Movement (LUM) for his plans to establish an Electricity Regulatory Agency. This initiative is seen as a pivotal step towards ensuring a stable and reliable power supply across the state.
The Light Up Movement, known for its advocacy for consistent electricity, acknowledged the alignment of this initiative with its core mission. The organization has a long history of collaboration with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), emphasizing the crucial role of reliable power in driving socioeconomic development.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Publicity Secretary of LUM, Kerry Haruna, noted that reliable electricity is not just a convenience but a foundational element for industrial growth, educational advancement, healthcare improvement, and overall quality of life for citizens.
He said the proposed regulatory agency is expected to enhance efficiency, accountability, and innovation in the power sector, attracting investments and fostering local enterprises. A move is anticipated to create a favorable environment for sustainable development in Kogi State.
While commending the government for its foresight, the Light Up Movement pledged its support for the establishment of the regulatory body, expressing its readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective power generation and distribution in the State.
