Kogi NYCN Announces Guest House Construction Plans, Set up Committee

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, has unveiled plans to embark on the construction of a guest house within the premises of the Youth House in Lokoja. This project aims to address the accommodation needs of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the office, security guards, and NYCN local government coordinators who often face challenges in securing lodging during their visits to the state capital for official functions.

The announcement was made today by Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah, the Chairman of NYCN Kogi State chapter, during a press briefing at the Youth House. He noted that the lack of adequate housing facilities has been a persistent issue, leaving many stranded during their visits to Lokoja.

“The construction of this guest house is a significant step towards improving the welfare of our members and ensuring they have a comfortable place to stay when they are in Lokoja for official duties,” Comrade Jeremiah stated.

To ensure the successful realization of this project, Comrade Jeremiah constituted a committee tasked with overseeing its execution. The committee, which will be chaired by Comrade Bala Ibrahim, is expected to source funding from well-spirited individuals and organizations both within and outside Kogi State. Other members of the committee includes Comrade Blessing Ele-ojo, Comrade Ada Abu, Comrade Mahmud, Comrade Umar Bashir, Comrade Fiki, Comrade Adeyemi Gbenga (Skipo-G), amongst other.

Reacting, the Chairman of the Committee, Comrade Bala Ibrahim noted that that the goal of the committee is to mobilize resources and support from all quarters to ensure the timely takeoff and completion of this guest house. “It will not only serve our members but also contribute to the overall development of the Youth House,” Comrade Bala said after his appointment as the committee chairman.

The committee is expected to commence work immediately, with the first phase focused on fundraising and mobilizing resources for the project.
