Supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo on Wednesday launched a North-Central grassroots mobilization campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections with a solidarity walk in Lokoja.

The mobilization, organised by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement 2027, brought together coordinators and supporters from the six states of the North-Central geopolitical zone in support of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and continuity of the Ododo administration in Kogi State.

The event, which also served as the official flag-off of the movement’s North-Central activities, began at Ganaja Junction and proceeded to Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja.

Participants carried placards and campaign materials supporting President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Ododo as they moved through parts of the Kogi State capital.

The National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Comrade Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, represented the founder and Grand Patron of the movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Also present were the movement’s North-Central Coordinator, Ambassador Omotowa Victor Opeyemi; Kogi State Coordinator, Comrade David Mark; and coordinators and representatives from other North-Central states.

Speaking to participants, Asuku said the movement was focused on taking its campaign for Tinubu’s re-election beyond rallies and political gatherings to wards, communities and local government areas.

He urged coordinators and supporters to engage directly with voters, explain the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration and build sustained grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Asuku also called for peaceful political participation, urging members of the movement to operate within the law and respect differing political views.

The North-Central Coordinator, Omotowa, described the Lokoja mobilisation as an indication of the grassroots structure being developed across the region.

He said political support must be built at the ward and community levels rather than being concentrated in major cities.

Omotowa consequently urged state coordinators to strengthen their structures and take the movement’s message to communities across the six North-Central states.

He also encouraged supporters to engage voters peacefully and convince them through discussions around government policies.

The Kogi State Coordinator, David Mark, said the turnout demonstrated the support enjoyed by the movement in the state.

Mark said the Kogi structure would continue working with coordinators at the local government and grassroots levels to expand its reach before the 2027 general elections.

He said the movement’s objective went beyond organising periodic rallies, stressing the need for a sustained grassroots network capable of engaging communities throughout the election cycle.

State coordinators at the event pledged to strengthen the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s structures across the North-Central region, with a focus on grassroots engagement, voter mobilisation, political education and peaceful advocacy for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.

The coordinators said the region would be important in the 2027 political contest and urged supporters to take the campaign message to wards and local government areas.

Participants at the solidarity walk also expressed support for Tinubu and Ododo, citing what they described as the performance of the Federal Government and developmental efforts in Kogi State.

Supporters argued that continuity would provide an opportunity for ongoing programmes and reforms to mature.

They highlighted infrastructure, economic reforms, social intervention programmes, youth empowerment, security and grassroots development among the areas they said deserved continued support.

The political leaders, however, urged supporters to return to their respective communities after the Lokoja mobilisation and engage voters directly.

They emphasised issue-based political engagement and urged members to explain government policies while allowing citizens to make their political choices freely.

The Lokoja event is expected to form part of a wider grassroots mobilisation by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the organisation indicating that its campaign strategy will centre on sustained community-level engagement across the North-Central region.
