Kogi Commissioner Joins Stakeholders at 7th National Council on Youth Development in Maiduguri

The 7th National Council on Youth Development (NCYD) convened in Maiduguri from 9th to 13th December, brought together policymakers, stakeholders, and youth leaders from across Nigeria to discuss innovative approaches to youth empowerment and development. The event, themed “Transforming and Repositioning the Nigerian Youth to Thrive and Catalyse Economic Development,” was attended by the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande and key figures, including Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports.

The council identified four critical thematic areas essential for addressing youth challenges and driving economic growth: Governance, Jobs, Skills and Innovation, Cultural and Behavioral Change, and Human Capital Development. The deliberations charted a course for empowering young Nigerians with the skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing economy.

Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe actively participated in the discussions, emphasizing Kogi State’s commitment to youth empowerment under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. He discussed ongoing state policies that focus on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship development, and capacity building for the youth.

Addressing the council, Honourable Anyebe called for sustained collaboration between the Federal Government and states to implement initiatives that support young people. He commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing youth development and fostering an enabling environment for inclusive growth.

The event also provided a platform for the sharing of best practices, with various states presenting success stories and challenges in implementing youth-focused programs.

The council resolved to strengthen youth policies across the nation, ensuring that young Nigerians are equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development.
