Ankpa LG Chairman Oversees Palliative Distribution, Reaffirms Welfare Commitment

The Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Ademu Mohammed Yahaya, on Monday, presided over the distribution of another phase of rice palliatives to hundreds of residents as part of the council’s Eid-El-Kabir support initiative.

The distribution exercise, which cut across all 13 wards of the local government, was coordinated by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Halimat Imam, who lauded the initiative of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing it as timely and people-centered.

According to Hon. Imam, “Governor Ododo has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people. The scale and impact of this palliative distribution are both rare and commendable. We remain grateful and assure him of the continued support of civil servants and the people of Ankpa.”

In his remarks, Hon. Engr. Ademu Mohammed Yahaya expressed deep appreciation to the Accountant General of Kogi State, Hajia Habiba Tijjani Onumoko, FCNA, for her transparent leadership and equitable distribution of palliatives across the 21 local government areas. He emphasized that her efforts reflect the administration’s ‘Transformation Agenda’, particularly in addressing the needs of youths, women, religious and traditional institutions, persons with disabilities, and civil servants.

The Chairman also commended the Director of Local Government (DLG), Alhaji Shuaibu Ahmed Usman, for his consistent integrity and professionalism in managing the distribution process. He described the DLG as “a public servant whose honesty is as constant as the sunrise.”

Engr. Ademu reiterated the commitment of Governor Ododo to ensuring the security and welfare of all citizens, particularly civil servants, which he said underpins the ongoing distribution of welfare packages across the state.

He further thanked the people of Ankpa for their orderly conduct and cooperation throughout the exercise, describing them as “apostles of good governance.”

The palliatives, primarily bags of rice, were distributed through the 13 ward councillors and party ward chairmen, ensuring grassroots reach and transparency in implementation.
