Gov Ododo Condoles APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda Over Mother’s Demise

Earlier today, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over the passing of his mother, late Mrs Lydia Yilwatda, in Jos, Plateau State.

The Governor who is equally bereaved was represented by a state delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, accompanied by Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu, Member Kogi State House of Assembly representing Ofu State Constituency; Hon. Joshua E. Onoja, the APC State Secretary; Hon. Muhammed U. Muhammed, the APC State Youth Leader; and Hon. Adamu Abdullahi, the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo conveyed his profound condolences to the National Chairman over the demise of his mother, stating that he is indeed fortunate to have reached the pinnacle of his public service before her passing. He said that rather than mourning, it should be a celebration of a life well-lived.

He expressed gratitude to the National Chairman for sending a delegation to console him during the loss of his own father, the late Alh. Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo, noting that the late matriarch departed on the very same day he lost his father, both at the venerable age of 83, saying that their deaths is a profound loss for both families.

Ododo prayed to God Almighty to grant the departed mother eternal rest and to give the National Chairman a life that is longer than that of his mother, as he continues to serve the nation better. He commended the National Chairman for starting with good steps in his new office, saying that the party is witnessing positive transformations within his few weeks in office.

In response, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Governor and the government of Kogi State for the condolence visit, stating that it has further fortified his relationship with the state.

He extended his gratitude to the Governor and his Deputy for the well planned and coordinated by-election in Kogi State last Saturday, which gave a resounding victory for the party, stating that it is a shining example for other states in the North-Central region to emulate. He assured that under his stewardship, the APC would leave no stone unturned in securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

The Late Mrs Lydia Yilwatda, aged 83, died on August 17th, 2025, in Jos, after a brief Illness.

Prior to the condolence visit, the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Josephine Piyo at her Jos residence.
