KOSIEC Announces 12 Parties for L.G Election
… As ADC, SDP, PDP Fails to meet guidelines.
The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission says only 12 out of 19 registered parties will participate in the Oct 2026 L.G Election.
In a Press Conference addressed by the Chairman, Mamman Nda Eri, he commission cites non-compliance with guidelines as reason for excluding some parties, including ADC, SDP, and PDP.
KOSIEC says it is guided by the Constitution, Electoral Act, and court decisions.
The Chairman assures stakeholders of a free, fair, and inclusive election, urging parties to comply with guidelines.
“Our processes are transparent, inclusive, and firmly rooted in the law,” he says.
KOSIEC faults PDP, SDP, and ADC for not meeting requirements, says it won’t recognize their primaries and other infections.
The Chairman explains that KOSIEC is independent of INEC, with its own laws and regulations.
“Parties are advised to comply with the Electoral Act 2022 and KOSIEC Law 2025.
