Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa Officially Submits APC Senatorial Nomination Forms
A leading aspirant for the Kogi East Senatorial ticket under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, formally declaring his intention to contest for the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The submission, which took place amid growing political conversations across Kogi East, marks another important step in what many supporters have described as a movement for experienced, strategic, and development-focused representation for the region.
Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, a Political Economy expert, development strategist, and long-time stakeholder within the APC, is widely regarded by many observers as one of the most exposed and nationally connected aspirants in the race.
Speaking shortly after the submission of the forms, close associates of the aspirant stated that the decision to officially enter the race was driven by the need to offer Kogi East a stronger voice in national affairs and create new opportunities for the people through effective representation.

They noted that Dr. Mahmoud’s aspiration is built around the belief that Kogi East deserves more than symbolic representation, stressing that the region requires leadership with the capacity to attract opportunities, influence policy conversations, and strategically position the district within the national political space.
Over the years, Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa has built a strong profile across governance, policy advisory, investment, and development circles. He previously served as Political Economy Adviser to the Federal Ministry of Environment between 2015 and 2017 and also worked as Project Economic Adviser on development initiatives in Kaduna State and the North East Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (RRR) programme between 2014 and 2017.
He was also a financing member during the 2015 Kogi State gubernatorial election and played active roles within political structures during the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections.
Supporters of the aspirant believe his combination of policy experience, economic understanding, national relationships, and political exposure makes him a strong contender for the APC ticket at a time when many within the district are demanding a new direction for Kogi East.
Since the announcement of his ambition, different youth groups, political stakeholders, and professionals across the district have continued to openly canvass support for his aspiration, describing him as a candidate whose profile aligns with the current realities and future needs of Kogi East.
With the successful submission of his nomination forms, political observers believe the race for the APC senatorial ticket in Kogi East has now entered a more decisive phase, as consultations and alignments continue ahead of the party’s internal processes.
