Governor Ododo Praises Peaceful Conduct of APC Senatorial Primary

Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election, casting his vote at his polling unit in Upogoro/Odenku Ward of Okene Local Government Area.

The primary election, which attracted APC members and supporters across the ward, was conducted peacefully under tight security, with party faithful turning out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.

Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary, describing the process as peaceful, transparent, and orderly. He noted that the exercise reflected the democratic ideals being strengthened within the ruling party.

“I’m very happy and excited. I feel fulfilled,” the governor said. “As you can see, the entire exercise is going on smoothly, peacefully, and in an orderly manner. This is the handiwork of Mr. President, who laid the foundation for internal democracy within the party.”

The governor stressed that the APC leadership in Kogi State remained committed to ensuring that party members freely choose their representatives without interference or imposition.

“There is no imposition. We allow people to speak and choose those who will serve them. That is exactly what we are doing here today,” he stated.

Governor Ododo also urged party members to remain united after the primary election, emphasizing the need for aspirants and supporters to work together in the collective interest of the APC and the people of Kogi State.

“I want to assure everyone that after this exercise, we will emerge stronger. We are one family and will continue to work together for the interest of our party and our people,” he added.

Meanwhile, one of the returning officers for Upogoro/Odenku Ward, Usman Abdulsalam, confirmed that the exercise was conducted in line with APC guidelines and restricted to duly accredited party members.

He disclosed that three aspirants contested the primary election, namely Momoh Yusuf Obaro, Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

According to Abdullahi, the election was peaceful and credible, with accreditation carried out strictly through the presentation of valid APC membership cards.
