Ekiti Result Shows Nigerians Trust APC Reforms, Says Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s decisive victory in the Ekiti State Governorship Election and the party’s strong showing in recent bye-elections nationwide as a clear endorsement of APC governance and the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Yilwatda, the election results demonstrate that Nigerians can distinguish between the temporary challenges associated with economic reforms and the long-term benefits of responsible governance, economic restructuring, infrastructure development, and institutional renewal.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said the victories reflect growing public confidence in the party’s leadership.

“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy,” he said.

“These results affirm that Nigerians appreciate leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability, and the welfare of the people.”

Yilwatda noted that Governor Oyebanji’s re-election underscores the importance of performance-driven leadership in democratic governance.

“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics,” he stated.

“Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent management of resources, and visible developmental achievements.”

Governor Oyebanji secured victory across the state, reaffirming public confidence in his administration and the APC’s development agenda. The party also won five of the six bye-elections conducted in different parts of the country.

The APC chairman said the Ekiti election has become a reference point for performance-based governance in Nigeria.
“When governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, and social development, citizens respond with renewed trust and overwhelming electoral support,” he said.

He added that the outcome sends a strong message that effective governance, rather than political rhetoric, remains the foundation of electoral success.

Yilwatda described Ekiti State under Governor Oyebanji as one of the country’s leading examples of effective governance. He cited investments in road construction, rural development, healthcare, education, agriculture, workers’ welfare, and economic growth as key achievements of the administration.

According to him, the governor has also fostered political stability and broad-based consensus while maintaining a strong focus on development.

“Ekiti today stands as a shining example of how APC governments are translating public trust into measurable development outcomes,” he said.

The APC chairman further linked the election victories to the broader reform agenda of President Tinubu, which he said is laying the foundation for a more resilient and competitive economy.

“Despite inheriting deep structural challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated courage and vision in implementing reforms necessary for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity,” he stated.

“The confidence reposed in our party by voters across the country indicates growing public understanding and appreciation of these reforms and their future benefits.”

He described the victories as not only electoral successes but also endorsements of a governance philosophy built on bold leadership, responsible decision-making, and sustainable development.

Yilwatda congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, APC leaders and members, as well as all victorious candidates in the bye-elections. He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the people of Ekiti State for the peaceful conduct of the election.

The APC chairman assured Nigerians that the party would remain committed to delivering good governance, economic renewal, and inclusive national development.

“We appreciate the confidence Nigerians have placed in our party and will continue to justify that trust through impactful governance and sustained development,” he said.
