Hassan Ocholi: Akume Charges New TETFund Board Member »

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has charged the newly appointed Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Board of Trustees member representing the North Central geopolitical zone, Dr Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, to contribute to the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Akume gave the charge on Friday in Abuja when Ocholi paid him a visit following his appointment to the TETFund Board.

The SGF congratulated the Kogi-born scholar and public policy expert, urging him to justify the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu through effective representation and responsible oversight of TETFund interventions in public tertiary institutions.

Ocholi’s appointment was approved by President Tinubu on July 3, 2026, to represent the North Central zone on the TETFund Board of Trustees.

The appointment has been welcomed in the North Central zone, while the Kogi State Government described it as recognition of Ocholi’s experience in public administration, scientific research, policy engagement and community development.

Akume urged the new board member to focus on initiatives capable of translating government policies into measurable improvements in the education sector and supporting the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

TETFund is responsible for managing and disbursing education tax and approving eligible intervention projects in public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

Its interventions cover areas including infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, research, publications and academic staff development, making the Board of Trustees central to the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen tertiary education.

Akume also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for identifying Ocholi for the appointment.
