Omisore Backs Oyebamiji Ahead of Osun 2026 Poll »

Former Osun State Deputy Governor and former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has pledged his support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s August 15, 2026 election.

Omisore made the commitment on Friday when he received the Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, and Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his residence in Osun State.

The meeting formed part of strategic engagements by the two APC governors with key stakeholders as the party intensifies its mobilisation ahead of the governorship election.

During the meeting, Oyebanji and Ododo urged Omisore to deploy his political network and influence in support of Oyebamiji, stressing the importance of unity among APC stakeholders.

The governors also described the election as critical to the political direction of Osun State and called on party stakeholders to put past disagreements aside in the interest of the APC.

They further urged stakeholders to support what they described as the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and work towards aligning Osun State with the Federal Government’s development agenda.

Responding, Omisore thanked the two governors for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and its governorship candidate.

“I want to thank the two Governors for coming to see me and for the honour they have done me. I remain committed to the success of our party and to the emergence of our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, as the next Governor of Osun State,” he said.

Omisore said previous disagreements had been put behind him, adding that his priority was now the victory of the APC and the progress of the state.

“Whatever disagreements we had in the past are effectively behind us. What matters now is the victory of the APC and the progress of Osun State. I am fully committed to this cause,” he said.

He also disclosed that he had activated his political structure across Osun State to mobilise support for Oyebamiji, describing Saturday’s election as a “must-win” for the party.

“I have activated my political structure. For us, tomorrow’s election is a must-win. I am very optimistic about our chances because the people of Osun are progressive-minded,” Omisore said.

“We are going into this election with confidence, unity and a clear determination to deliver victory for Bola Oyebamiji and the APC.”

The development comes as the APC intensifies its final mobilisation across Osun State ahead of the poll, with party leaders and prominent stakeholders rallying support for Oyebamiji.

Omisore and other prominent Osun political figures have previously backed Oyebamiji, while the APC recently incorporated him into its National Campaign Council for the August 15 governorship election.
