FRC, KGRIS Deepen Collaboration on Fiscal Responsibility in Kogi »

The Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Hon. Jimoh Muhammed, has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Kogi State to strengthen fiscal idiscipline, transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

Muhammed made the call during the Commission’s sensitisation engagement with the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGRIS), where he led the FRC delegation and met with the Chairman of KGRIS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe.

The engagement formed part of the Commission’s ongoing sensitisation visits to key public institutions in Kogi State aimed at deepening understanding and compliance with fiscal responsibility principles.

Speaking during the meeting, Muhammed stressed the importance of prudent management of public resources and adherence to established fiscal principles in the administration of public finances.

He explained that fiscal responsibility extends beyond the preparation and implementation of budgets, noting that it also involves proper documentation, responsible use of public funds, transparency in financial operations and accountability to the people.

According to him, the sensitisation programme was designed to strengthen the capacity of MDAs to understand their responsibilities under the fiscal responsibility framework and promote practices that support efficiency, accountability and sustainable financial management.

The FRC chairman also emphasised the need for collective commitment among public institutions, particularly agencies involved in the management and generation of public revenue.

He said the Commission would continue to engage relevant institutions through dialogue, sensitisation and technical support to strengthen fiscal discipline and promote responsible management of public resources.

Responding, KGRIS Chairman Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe expressed the Service’s readiness to strengthen its collaboration with the FRC.

Enehe said greater institutional synergy would enhance transparency, accountability and responsible revenue management in the state.

He appreciated the Commission for the sensitisation initiative and assured that KGRIS remained open to continued engagement aimed at strengthening fiscal governance in Kogi.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to working with MDAs to improve compliance, strengthen accountability and contribute to a more transparent and sustainable public financial management system in the state.
