Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo was honoured with the National Excellence Award for Outstanding Governance in Security and Youth Development.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has received the National Excellence Award for Outstanding Governance in Security and Youth Development, dedicating the recognition to the people of the state.

The award was presented on Tuesday at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, during a ceremony organised by the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment to recognise contributions to ethical leadership, governance and national development.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, represented the governor and received the award on his behalf.

Reacting to the recognition, Ododo said the honour reflected the collective efforts of his administration and the people of Kogi State towards building a safer and more prosperous state.

“I dedicate this recognition to the good people of Kogi State. This honour belongs to all Kogites who continue to contribute to the progress and development of our dear State,” the governor said.

Ododo said the recognition reinforced his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, creating opportunities for young people and implementing policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

He attributed progress in security and youth development to the collective commitment of members of his administration, security agencies, young people and citizens across the state.

The governor also expressed appreciation to the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment for the recognition, saying the award would encourage his administration to sustain its development efforts.

He reaffirmed that security and youth development would remain areas of focus, stressing that a secure environment was essential for sustainable economic growth and development.

Also honoured at the ceremony was the Accountant General of Kogi State, Dr Habibat Onumoko, who was decorated as the Matron of the Centre.

Ododo congratulated Onumoko on the recognition and commended her contributions to the state administration’s financial management and development efforts.

He described the honours received by the state’s officials as a source of encouragement to the Kogi State Government.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a safer, more prosperous and inclusive Kogi State, with emphasis on security, youth development and improved opportunities for citizens.
