PAAU Pro-Chancellor, VC Receive SPSP Fellowship for Peace Scholarship

PAAU Pro-Chancellor Mohammed Suleiman Audu and Vice-Chancellor Salisu Ogbo Usman receive SPSP fellowship certificates in Ibadan.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, have received the Prestigious Fellowship of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP).

The fellowship was conferred on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, during the 20th Annual International Conference and General Assembly of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice at Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The recognition was based on the contributions of the two university leaders to peace scholarship, leadership, and the promotion of peace and security in Nigeria.
According to the university, their nomination was made by the Society’s National Working Committee and subsequently approved by its Board of Trustees.

The Society for Peace Studies and Practice is a professional umbrella organisation for peace scholars and practitioners, with a focus on collaboration towards sustainable peace and development in Africa.

It promotes non-violent approaches to conflict resolution through research, strategic advocacy and practical interventions, while also organising seminars, international conferences, workshops, public lectures and other scholarly engagements on peace, security and development.

The PAAU Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Society for the recognition and commended its leadership for acknowledging their contributions.

They reaffirmed their commitment to initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence, conflict resolution and sustainable development.

The two university leaders also stressed the importance of collaboration among scholars, peace practitioners, government institutions and other stakeholders in addressing contemporary challenges relating to peace and security.

They further acknowledged the role of professional bodies and academic institutions in advancing peace scholarship, research and practice.

The ceremony featured the formal investiture of Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu and Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman as Prestigious Fellows of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice, with the presentation of fellowship certificates and plaques.

Members of the PAAU community subsequently congratulated the two university leaders, describing the fellowship as recognition of their contributions to peace scholarship, leadership and the promotion of peaceful coexistence.
