AEDC seek continued partnership with LUM; as Region set to introduce Instant Metering Package

The management of AEDC, Lokoja regional office has commended the leadership of Light Up Movement (LUM) for its role in bridging the gap between the company and its customers in the state.

The new General Manager of the region, Yahaya Jere gave this commendation during a meeting with the leadership of LUM in Lokoja.

Jerre said records available to him showed that LUM have been an effective partner with AEDC over the years, and added that the role played by the group contributed to the improved customer/service provider relationship in the state.

He called for improved synergy between the group and AEDC to ensure effective service delivery and improved collections.

“My duty in Kogi State is to provide better service to customers and in return get value for services rendered. I cannot achieve this unless I get the cooperation of every stakeholder, more important the consumers.

“To show seriousness, we have began a routine maintenance of service lines across all the feeders to ensure that they work efficiently. The maintenance will be done one after the other to ensure that the state is not put in total blackout during the exercise”.

The General Manager also informed that as part of moves to meter the state, he is introducing the Mobile Metering Initiative which he said was aimed at bridging the metering gap in the state.

“We will be introducing the Mobile Metering Initiative to provide ‘instant’ mass metering to customers who are ready to pay for them. This initiative will boycott the bureaucracy and stress faced by customers in acquiring meters.

“Registration, payment and configuration will be done at the same spot, and immediately it is configured, standby installer will move to the resilience of the customer to mount the meter”. Jere said.

He called on customers to key into the initiative which will commence later in the month to get metered.

On his part, the Chairman of Light Up Movement, Iliyasu Zakari, commended the new General Manager for hitting the ground running in ordering maintenance on power lines, adding that it is a signal of better days ahead.

Zakari called ob the new GM to also look into the band distribution within the state and ensure that no area is shortchanged in any guise.

He said the principal objective of LUM is to advocate for improved power supply to customers, adding that the group is always ready to partner with AEDC in achieving their collective objective.
