Aftermath of rainstorm devastation in Ofu: Gov Bello’s security promises gov’t intervention

The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Security in charge of Ofu Local Government Area, Hon Amodu Ibrahim has promised the peoplheir cry to the state government over the devastation that befell their homes and properties following Saturday’s rainstorm.

He made the promise when he visited the area to sympathize with the people, assuring them that the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello was one that takes the plight of ordinary citizens seriously.

The Security aide expressed sadness over the development which he said was caused by natural disaster which was out of anybody’s hands, and appealed to well meaning citizens to contribute their own quota to assisting in mitigating the negative impact the disaster would have on the victims.

Hon Amodu said even though the government of Bello was ready to rally support in the event of any mishaps on communities, the administration could not do everything on its own as all hands must be on deck to assist the needy in the society.

He called on the State Emergency Management Agency to intervene fast to cushion the impact of the disaster, noting that it was only through coordinated efforts that the plight of the common man would be addressed.

The people of the area thanked the SSA for his swift response on the matter and prayed the Almighty God to bless him and bless the state government for his show of empathy.

They then appealed to him to use his office to present their case to government for timely intervention so they could return to some level of normalcy with their everyday lives even in the face of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

They promised to abide by his advice for them to take all necessary security caution to avert any form of breakdown of law and to ensure security of lives of residents of the community.
