Agricultural Revolution: Kogi Govt. Recovers Over 120 Diverted Tractors

Kogi state government have hinted that its efforts to recover over 200 diverted Massey Fergusson Tractors distributed to 21 Local Government Area by the immediate past administration have began to yield positive results with the recent recovery of over one hundred and twenty tractors in just few months.

This was revealed by the state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on Thursday when he visited the the facility of the Kogi State, Agricultural Development Project (ADP) where he was accompanied by the delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

Recall that during his meeting in February with Farmers Association of Nigeria in Kogi state Governor Ododo promised to revolutionise the agricultural sector through adequate investment in infrastructure, security and quality seedlings. The governor directed a committee to investigate and recover the misappropriated tractors while also reccommending necessary punishment for those found culpable.

According to governor Ododo, some of the recovered tractors were brought in very critical conditions hence the government commenced immediate refurbishment through the facilities of the Kogi ADP while promising immediate deployment to farmers across the state through a more accountable mechanism.

Governor Ododo promised that kogi state would lead in the war against food insecurity under President’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed hope leadership through controlled farming system and the provision of adequate security for farmers while also providing the needed infrastructures and other relevant support and assistance to drastically improve farming outputs in the state.

Earlier while making his remarks the Managing Director, Kogi Agricultural Development Project (ADP), Alh. Bello Ogirima George noted that ADP has often served the technical purposes of the agricultural sector in the state, providing the relevant support and logistics.

According to him, Kogi state was making giant strides in the sector owing to some of the policies and programmes of the immediate past administration which were already being consolidated by the current government. He added that the ADP provided its facility for the refurbishment of the recovered tractors to further assist the state government in achieving its goals in the sector.

Speaking Briefly, the leader of the RMAFC delegation and National Commissioner of the Commission from Niger state, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako Shettima lauded the state’s effort in the agricultural sector, adding that the state’s investment were visible and would go a long to ensure that issues of food insecurity were nipped in the bud.
