APC Presidential Primaries: Yahaya Bello Praises Tinubu’s Re-Election, Commends Infrastructure Development
Former Governor of Kogi State and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, has described the ongoing APC presidential primary election across the country as a strong indication of Nigerians’ overwhelming support and confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bello made the remarks shortly after casting his vote during the APC presidential primary election held on Saturday, May 23, at his polling unit in Okeneba, Agaasa Ahache Ward, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The former governor, who was visibly excited by the turnout of party members and supporters, said the massive participation in the exercise reflected the trust Nigerians have in President Tinubu’s leadership and his administration’s reform agenda.
“We are highly elated by the level of support from our people, from the ward to the local government, the entire Kogi Central Senatorial District, and Kogi State as a whole,” Bello said. “Everyone is fully mobilised to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge as the flag bearer of our great party. You can see the jubilation everywhere; it is like a carnival atmosphere.”
Bello stressed that there were compelling reasons why President Tinubu should be returned to office, insisting that the President had demonstrated courage and determination in tackling longstanding national challenges.
According to him, Tinubu inherited numerous economic and infrastructural difficulties but has shown boldness in implementing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and development.
“Leadership requires courage,” Bello stated. “For years, Nigeria experienced movement without direction. What we now have under President Tinubu is purposeful and directional leadership. He understands the challenges and has the courage to confront them head-on.”
The former governor argued that no miraculous intervention would transform the country overnight, adding that Nigerians themselves must work collectively with committed leadership to achieve meaningful progress.
“No angel will descend from heaven to fix Nigeria for us,” he said. “We are the ones who must build the nation, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is providing that leadership and direction.”
Bello particularly commended the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure initiatives, citing the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Lokoja–Okene–Benin highway as one of the administration’s landmark achievements.
He noted that the critical road corridor had remained a major challenge since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, with successive administrations unable to undertake comprehensive reconstruction work on the highway.
“From 1999 until 2023, the road from Abuja to Lokoja, crossing Okene down to Benin, defied every administration,” Bello said. “Today, under President Tinubu, the entire design has been transformed into reinforced concrete pavement. That is a remarkable achievement within less than two years.”
He described the project as evidence that the President was “walking the talk” and delivering on campaign promises through practical governance and visible infrastructural development.
The former governor further assured the President of continued support from APC members and supporters in Kogi State, saying the people were committed to sustaining the administration’s developmental agenda.
The APC presidential primary election was conducted simultaneously across the party’s 8,809 wards nationwide amid tight security and widespread participation by party members.
