Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been described as a man of covenant ordained by God to lead and should be supported by all to deliver the Kogi of our dreams.

Senator Smart Adeyemi made the remark in an interview with journalists during the Kogi APC gubernatorial primaries that held on Thursday at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

Senator Adeyemi said those aspiring to contest against Governor Bello in the November 16 governorship election should think twice as a man under God’s covenant could hardly be defeated.

“I’m sure you know Governor Yahaya Bello has won his election? Those aspiring to contest against him in November should think twice, because this man is a man of covenant. When a person is chosen by God, you have to be very careful the way you challenge them.”

According to him, Governor Bello is the leader God has allowed to rule the people of Kogi State for now and deserves to be supported by all and sundry to succeed in the office rather than cast aspersions.

“When a leader is picked and anointed by God, all that is needed was to give them the necessary support to succeed. Let’s allow him to complete his eight (8) years in office,” he added.

Speaking further, the senator expressed optimism that the November governorship election would be smooth, peaceful and deliver victory to the New Direction Government, same way the primary election went.

“For me, the same way the primary election has gone is the same way the governorship election would go. What this victory connotes in essence is that the people are satisfied with Governor Bello and they want him to continue in office to consolidate.”

“I’m not saying there are no areas of improvement. But if you look at it holistically, this government has been able to perform excellently well in quite a number of places that were neglected hitherto by previous governments.”

“I’m overwhelmed by this victory, contrary to interpretations and misinterpretations he has emerged victorious.”

Also speaking, the Senator Representing Kogi East at the National Assembly, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho described the process of the election and the conduct of the delegates as most peaceful and well coordinated election in recent times.

Senator Echocho added that the committee from the party’s headquarters in Abuja who conducted the exercise handled the whole process in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

“I’m sure everyone here who witnessed the process of this election will be pleased, aspirants and delegates alike. You can see it has been rancor free and I’m highly elated because Governor Bello has been my candidate and he has won.”

According to Senator Echocho, God has further spoken by allowing Governor Bello to win the APC ticket, calling on all those who contested with the governor to join hands with him to deliver victory to the party in November.
