The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja has expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the grace granted him to serve humanity with commitment, sincerity and compassion over the years.

Chief Onoja stated this at a special thanksgiving service organised to mark his 48th birthday at the Government House Chapel, Lokoja.

Onoja at the thanksgiving service attended by the Kogi State Head of Service, Mrs. Hannah Odiyo, Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, Commodore Jerry Omodara, other top government functionaries, family members and political associates, asked God to continue to use him as an instrument of peace, an instrument of progress and prosperity for the people.

He attributed his successes as a privilege from God, noting that whatever he became today was not because he was the best in his generation, family or community but because of God’s grace.

The Deputy Governor thanked his principal, Gov Yahaya Bello for the gift of the Kogi State government house chapel. He stated that an alter has been raised for continuous prayers for the peace of the state. He prayed God for strength in the life of Gov Bello to finish well and the grace to continue on the various developmental projects and programmes initiated by this administration for the benefit of the people.

“I have a lot to thank God Almighty for, He has used us to serve our people with commitment, with sincerity and with compassion in all of what we have been doing and as we roll into the twilight and season of our administration we pray that Almighty God would continue to use us as his instrument of peace, an instrument of progress and prosperity for our people.”

Earlier in his short sermon, Pastor Henry Osarapo described gratitude as the most powerful tool a man may employ to reach God’s heart and only through a righteous heart of thanksgiving can one dominate.

Speaking on the Topic, Thanksgiving a Weapon of Dominion, the cleric defined with clarity that dominion means having total control and one cannot have total control without first living a righteous life and also engaging the weapon of thanksgiving.

He therefore prayed for Chief Onoja to experience constant grace in his life and commended him for returning to God to express gratitude for all of his blessings as well as for acknowledging his creator as the source of his strength.

“If you are to take a review of Onoja’s life at 48th, you will see a life filled with confidence and hope to embrace the future. Your life has not been a waste, God has blessed you and through you blessed others,” he said.

Present at the thanksgiving service were leaders and members of all three arms of government in the state, Business Men, Bankers, party leaders, church and Kogi state people.
