Bagana Crisis; Col. Suleiman Babanawa to Chair Peace Committee in Omala

The Chairman of Omala Local Government Council of Kogi state, Hon. Ibrahim Yakubu Aboh, has inaugurated 11 man committee to address lingering crisis bedeviling the people of Bagana and its environs.

While inaugurating the committee on Wednesday in Abejukolo, the Chairman said ,the committee became necessary in view of the ongoing unfortunate circumstances and to fashion and address remote and probable causes and to proffer sustainable solutions to the crisis.

He lamented that the crisis has taken toll on the people of Bagana Communities, Omala LGA and kogi state in general forcing inhabitants to become internally displaced persons in neighbouring communities.

He called on the committee members to expedite action on the terms of reference with the view to turn in reliable report that will permanently resolve the impasse.

He disclosed that the four point agenda for the committee is to among other things, Critically examine the Issues in Bagana that have prone the town and its surrounding communities to the crisis, to recommend measures that can bring lasting and sustainable peace to Bagana town and its environs, to do anything necessary that is in keeping with bringing peace to Bagana and its surrounding, even as he directed them to submit their report in three weeks.

He thank the committee for accepting to honour the clarion call to assist in the mediation, urging them to consider the call as a national duty to restore peace to their fatherland.

The committee has Colonel Suleiman Babanawa Rtd as Chairman, Prince Joseph Jibrin, Secretary, other members include; Chief Abdulsalam Iyaji AIG Rtd., Col. Paul Baba Rtd. Dr. Simeon Oyigu, Prince Ademu Ibrahim; Barrister Emmanuel Maji, Chief Stephen Shaibu , P.E Chief P.E Achor , Head of DSS, DPO in Omala LGC as members.

Responding , the Chairman of the Committee Colonel Suleiman Babanawa Rtd commended the chairman, Hon. Aboh for his care for the people and his frantic effort at seeking lasting peace for the embattled Communities.
He promised the committee’s readiness to reward his courage to provide peace and enduring security in Omala by painstakingly produce a report that will be sustainable in engendering peace not only in Bagana but to all the communities across the Local Government Area.

He called on individuals and groups to make their input to ease the work of the committee.

In his remark, the Secretary of the committee, Chief Joseph Jibrin, acknowledged the commitment of the Chairman to ensure total peace and security across the LGA, saying the setting up of the committee is a practical demonstration of his capacity to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
