The people of Bassa Local Government Area in Kogi State have voiced their commitment to ensuring the return of Governor Yahaya Bello for a second term.

They made the call on Wednesday in Lokoja when they paid a courtesy visit on the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Edward Onoja in his office.

The team was led on the visit by the council’s administrator, Hon Samuel Alumka who described the present administration as one which has given the people of the area reaosns to back the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC at all times.

Hon Alumka noted that unlike the intractable security problem in the Local Government among other developmental challenges in the past, the present administration had shown the people of Bassa genuine reasons to hope for better days ahead.

Other key political figures that spoke during the visit noted that the present administration has given the people of Bassa reasons to be faithful to the APC at all times, and assured the government of their sincere commitment to returning the Governor for another term.

Speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Edward Onoja admitted that Bassa Local Government Area was predominantly for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party which was in power for over a decade without attracting any development to the Council.

He then wondered why they had to be loyal to a political leader or system that is self serving other people – oriented, adding that a good political leader must have the people’s interest over personal interest at heart at all times as demonstrated by Governor Bello.

He used the medium to assure the delegation that the Governor has their interest at heart, hence the award of the costliest road project in the state, the Shintaku – Dekina road project, construction of which would commence after the completion of the ongoing ones.

Onoja who promised that the Bello led government was putting modalities in place to see to that the ongoing electrification project in Kogi East got to Bassa, promised that light issue would soon be a thing of the past.

The Chief of Staff used the occasion to caution certain persons who insulted the Royal Fathers from Kogi State who formed part of the delegation that visited President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that such persons were myopic and utterly misguided as the visit has yielded some dividends as some of their requests have already been approved by the Federal Government.

He affirmed that the Royal Fathers were not monetarily induced to orchestrate such venture as they as they only realised that if they didn’t intervene with the truth, politicians with evil plot would destroy the progress the State has recorded since the inception of Governor Bello’s administration.
