November Gober: Kogi Gov’s CoS, Onoja confident of Yahaya Bello victory

Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Hon. Edward Onoja is upbeat that his principal, Alhaji Yahaya Bello would beat all contenders and emerge victorious in the November 16 Governorship poll.

He pointed out that the victory of Governor Bello had already been sealed in view of the remarkable outing he led the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC into achieving during the recently concluded general and state House of Assembly elections.

The Chief of staff was speaking on Tuesday in Lokoja when he played host to a delegation of the GYB Club Members Cooperative Society for GYB/CEDO Campaign Team for the 2019 election.

He also hinted that the noise being generated regarding the election was good as it would make the Governor’s victory sweeter and make it a greater testimony about Governor Bello’s divine candidacy and mandate.

The election, as far as the Chief of Staff is concerned, is between progression and retrogression as far as governance is concerned in Kogi State, saying that Bello had shown progress when he made unity, peace, development, tranquility, love and harmony cornerstone of his administration.

While the country is still in search of modalities for harnessing the diversity of the various ethnic nationalities that make it up, Kogi has found a way of closing the ethnoreligious gaps among its citizens since Bello came on board, hence the absence of ethnic mistrust of old.

“Every human being needs to be treated with respect irrespective of ethnic or religion disposition, the Governor has not gone the way of his predecessors who played ethnoreligious cards while in the saddle. We are now united as a state and as a people, giving the youths and other people in the state sense of belonging.”

He stated that the present gains recorded by the administration become has made it difficult for anyone coming to take over in the future with the intention to the take the state backwards towards the trajectory of tribal strife and religious bigotry.

The Governor’s top aide similarly revealed that his boss has shown the right direction by establishing a new style of leadership which clearly elevates the principles of inclusiveness, justice, equity and fairness irrespective of background or social class.

He said when the Governor came on board, his appointment as his Chief of Staff against the Status quo came without any prior agreement between them, but from the genuineness of the Governor’s desire to break the walls of ethnic differences and mistrust which the State had suffered for years.

The Chief of Staff noted that those who were misguided by peddled lies of no projects in the State would soon have their doubts cleared when President Buhari would visit to commission remarkable projects spread across the three senatorial districts of the State.

He then expressed appreciation to the efforts made by the group which was predominantly people from Kogi Central towards the success of the Next level Agenda and the honour conferred on him by the group and by extension the Ebira peole.

The Coordinator of the group, Mallam Abdusalam Dahiru who spoke on behalf of the delegation thanked the Chief of Staff for his service to the State and particularly to their brother Governor Yahaya Bello.

He Stated that their visit was part of the effort being made by the group towards the success of the November 2019 Gubernatorial Election within the Central region of the State.
