The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State Chapter, has honoured the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Energy Matters, Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, with a Humanitarian Service Award for his contributions to the Church, Christian evangelism, peacebuilding and community development.
The award was presented on Saturday, October 10, 2026, during activities marking the 50th anniversary of CAN, which provided an opportunity to recognise individuals whose contributions have supported the association’s activities and strengthened its engagement with society.
According to the organisers, the recognition acknowledges Adeyemi’s support for the Christian community, including efforts to promote the Christian faith, strengthen the Church, foster unity and encourage peaceful relationships among individuals and communities.
The association also recognised his contributions to humanitarian service and the promotion of values associated with compassion, social cohesion and collective development.
The presentation formed part of CAN Kogi’s golden jubilee celebration, marking five decades of the association’s activities in advancing Christian unity, religious development and peaceful coexistence.
The anniversary also provided a platform to reflect on the association’s history and contributions to society, while acknowledging individuals whose support has helped advance the interests of the Church and its engagement with the wider community.
Adeyemi serves as Special Adviser to Governor Ododo on Energy Matters and Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers to the Governor.
His recognition, according to the organisers, highlights the role of collaboration between government officials, religious institutions and community stakeholders in promoting peace, social development and harmonious coexistence.
The Humanitarian Service Award also draws attention to contributions to community welfare and religious engagement beyond official responsibilities.
The CAN Kogi anniversary celebration concluded its award presentations as part of efforts to recognise contributions to the Christian community and encourage continued support for religious harmony, peacebuilding and sustainable development across the state.
