Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja, on Friday, attended the burial ceremony of his friend’s mother, the Late Mrs. Zilpa Ayoola Adeniji (Nee Arije), in Lagos State.

The funeral service was held at the Anglican Communion Cathedral Church of St. Jude, Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Ebute-Meta.

Until her death on September 15, 2021, the Adeniji matriarch was aged 89 years and is survived by many children among whom is Chief Onoja’s friend, Engr. Rotimi Adeniji, a UK-based Professional, and College mate from FGC, Kwali.

Addressing newsmen, Chief Onoja condoled with the Adeniji Family with tributes accorded the Late Mama as an accomplished nurse whose altruistic values were worthy of emulation.

He said although sad, Mama lived a celebratory life exemplified by service to God and mankind, adding that she was warm, generous, compassionate, and vibrant. He stressed that she did not take God’s grace in her life for granted, saying she gave back to society in her best capacity.

“It’s a good thing that I’m friends with the last Child of Mama Engr. Rotimi Adeniji who was my College mate which also solidifies my knowledge of Mama as a woman who served humanity and dedicated her life to Kingdom work,” he said.

Chief Onoja prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest whilst granting those she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

A reception ceremony for guests was held at the Bell Event Center, Campbell Street, Lagos, which also reunited about 21 students of Class of ’91 of FGC, Kwali after 3 decades.
